All the state capitals have an international, with Sydney, Melbourne and Perth all
serviced by long haul flights. All flights from UK to Australia have at least one stopover
and the location will depend on who you travel with, for example if you travel with
Emirates your stop will be in Dubai, Cathay Pacific is Hong Kong, or Singapore Airlines,
Qantus or BA is Singapore. Most stops are for approx 2 – 4 hours, giving you time
to stretch your legs.
There are many stopover options, whether you decide to continue to Australia or
spend a few days at your stopover destination, or you could choose a number of
stopovers on the way to Australia, spending a few days / weeks in each.
Because Australia is such an enormous country, flying is the most practical method
of travelling interstate. (Perth to Sydney by road is 4,425 kilometre journey and takes
several days) There are budget airlines which has dramatically reduced
the cost of flying from city to city.
